Q: Where is the Midland Conventions and Visitors Bureau (CVB) located?
A: The Midland CVB is located on Main Street just down from Oscars and Lil Pear Tree at 128 E. Main Street, Midland, MI, 48640. The Midland CVB Office will be Midnight on Main’s EVENT HEADQUARTERS & VOLUNTEER CHECK-IN POINT TOO! GOOGLE MAP
Q: Do I have to buy a ticket to see the ball drop?
A: With or without tickets to the 21 and over area, you can still be downtown and be apart of all the excitement! You can still see and hear the entertainment, the downtown pubs and restaurants will be open for food & drinks, the Pancake Tent that supports Big Brothers Big Sisters in the Heart of Michigan will be open and you can STILL be apart (and see) the Largest BALL DROP in Michigan with Fireworks at Midnight!!! **Midnight on Main is free other than the cover charge to enter the 21+ gated area. You do not need a ticket to come downtown, however, without a ticket, you will not have access to the 21 and over gated areas.
Q: Why should I buy a ticket? What does the ticket/wristband get me?
A: A wristband is necessary to enter the 21+ gated area on Main Street. Inside the gated area, you’ll have up-close access to the entertainment, be able to warm up at a bonfire or warming tent, and have the opportunity to purchase drinks (including beer and wine) and other items from vendors. Your wristband will also give you access to the Mix 106.3 Ice Lounge located in the courtyard of the H Hotel, where mixed drinks can be purchased. You will redeem your ticket for a wristband at the gate.
Q: Is there a limited number of tickets? Is it possible that the event will sell out?
A: Based on sales through mid December, it was not expected that advance tickets would sell out. Ticket sales then increased dramatically. The supply of advance tickets has been exhausted. About 500 additional tickets will be made available for purchase at the Midland Convention and Visitors Bureau beginning at 7 p.m. on December 31. These remaining tickets are expected to sell out quickly.
Q: Can I buy tickets for my group of friends?
A: Day of Ticket Sales will be limited to a MAXIMUM of 10 tickets per person! Due to the high level of interest, we really need make sure that as many people as possible can obtain our remaining number of event tickets.
Q: What should I do if I am unable to obtain a ticket?
A: While you won’t be able to access the 21+ gated area, you can still come to Downtown Midland to enjoy the entertainment and watch the ball drop. The sidewalks and many restaurants/pubs located in the Downtown area will be open.
Q: Why is there a maximum number of main event tickets available?
A: There is a maximum number of people that can safely and comfortably fit in the 21+ gated entertainment area on Main Street. We want to make sure that everyone who purchases an advance ticket can be admitted.
Q: Can I bring my own drinks to the event?
A: Personal beer, wine and liquor is absolutely prohibited and is a violation of Michigan Liquor Law. In addition, no open containers are allowed outside of the gated, 21+ entertainment area.
Q: What kind of drinks will be sold at the event?
A: Beer, wine and soft drinks will be sold at the beverage stations in the 21+ gated area on Main Street. Mixed drinks will be available for purchase in the Mix 106.3 Ice Lounge located in the courtyard of the H Hotel. Your wristband purchase allows you access to both areas. In addition, downtown pubs and restaurants will be open including Amazing Deli, Cafe Zinc, Diamond Jim’s, Journeys Coffeehouse, Molly’s Bistro, Oscar’s, Oxygen and Pizza Sam’s. With your wristband intact, you may enter and leave the 21+ area as often as you’d like.
Q: How will I stay warm?
A: This is a mostly outdoor event, so check the weather forecast and dress appropriately. The Main Street entertainment will perform in the open air on Main Street between McDonald and Rodd. Within the 21+ area, the Moose Brew Tent will serve as a warming tent, and the pancake tent is also heated. There will also be some propane heating towers and a couple bonfire pits.
Q: When and where can I buy $10 tickets prior to the event?
A: Tickets were available for purchase online through Friday, December 23. Tickets were then sold at several locations throughout the area until we SOLD OUT on Wednesday, December 28. We compiled any remaining tickets that we had available and sold out of them within 2 hours at Midland City Hall. Since we have SOLD OUT of our presale tickets, we will be selling a limited number of tickets the day of at the Midland CVB located on Main Street in Downtown Midland for $15 each.
Q: Do I need to bring an ID to the event?
A: You will need to bring a valid ID showing you are at least 21 years old to obtain a wristband and be allowed into the gated area. You may also need to show further proof of ID once inside. It’s best to have your ID with you at all times.
Q: Can I attend the event if I am under 21? Can I bring my kids?
A: While there is nothing “organized” for the 21 and younger crowd after 10 p.m., families and those under 21 are welcome to be in the downtown district to enjoy the ball drop, fireworks and other festivities. The gated area that requires a ticket and is restricted to those age 21 and up (due to alcohol being served) will run down the center of Main Street. Other parts of Main Street, such as the sidewalks, are open to the public. The main stage entertainment will be within the gated area but will be visible and can be heard from all portions of Main Street. Adult supervision is recommended for those under the age of 18 who would like to be downtown for the event. Don’t forget that there are also free activities for children from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. and for teens from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m.!
Q: What is the Ice Bar?
A: The Mix 106.3 Ice Lounge will be located in the courtyard of the H and will feature a 16-ft carved ice bar complete with two martini glass carved liquor luge. The bar is being carved by the Ice Gurus from the Food Network show Ice Brigade (www.iceguru.com). Your main event ticket will give you access to this area as well! You can purchase mixed drinks and enjoy DJ dance music by Mix 106.3 (from 9pm – 12:30am).
Q: What do I get with a Pancake Breakfast Ticket?
A: Your pancake breakfast ticket (a fundraiser benefiting Big Brothers Big Sisters in the Heart of Michigan) gives you one visit to the all-you-can-eat pancake tent and the fun of the high-flying Chris Cakes performance pancake crew. Once you leave the tent, you would need to purchase another ticket to re-enter.
Due to popular demand…. The Pancake Tent has been MOVED! Grab some pancakes between 5 to 7pm and again from 10pm till 1am in the Pancake Tent on McDonald Street between Larkin & Main.
Q: Where do I park? Is there a fee to park??
A: All the major parking lots in Downtown Midland will be available for free parking. On-street parking is also available on streets that are not being utilized for the event. Check out the parking & event map to locate the major parking lots and identify the areas being utilized for the event. Please note that the on-street parking (not located in an actual parking lot) that is available does not allow for overnight parking between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m. Please plan accordingly.
Q: Will there be a central location for shuttle and taxi pick-up and drop-off?
A: The designated drop-off and pick-up zone will be located at the intersections of Main Street and Gordon Street.
Q: I purchased a SpringHill Suites/Midnight on Main package. How does the shuttle transportation work?
A: For those who purchased the SpringHill Suites’ Midnight on Main package, the Sound Productions 25-passenger limo bus will be taking people from SpringHill Suites to Downtown Midland from 9 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. and then picking people up at the intersection of Main Street at Gordon Street from 12:15 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. Each person riding the Shuttle will NEED to show his or her room key.
