Midland’s Downtown Development Authority organized “Midnight on Main”: the Great Lakes Bay Region’s New Years Eve celebration to ring in 2014 with a roundup of activities that appealed to all ages. The format reaches beyond the traditional evening event, expanding into a day-long party including family-focused activities and a variety of traditional regional and cultural-themed happenings. Live entertainment, food and beverage vendors, and a countdown to a Times Square-style ball drop and fireworks at midnight are some of the festivities slated for the celebration. Did we mention that the Great Lakes Bay Region hosts the LARGEST new years eve ball drop in Michigan!?!
“Events like this have been held with tremendous success in Traverse City, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo and other venues around Michigan,” said Selina Tisdale, Executive Director of the Midland Downtown Development Authority. “Bringing the ball drop to Midland was a great way to get people downtown, to add a fun ‘family’ element to New Year’s Eve, have an adult event catered to the younger professionals and to highlight our area’s cultural diversity. It’s also a wonderful way to unite our Great Lakes Bay Region.”
The event is held every year on Main Street in Downtown Midland. Midnight on Main 2013-2014 was presented by Tata Consultancy Services, Zentx Media Group and Chemical Bank.
